A Modern Approach to Pandeiro
Off the radar; Lesser-known Brazilian Music with Valdisa Moura and Steve Sanford

Valdisa Moura

Steve Sanford

We are continuing our series of workshop presenting Brazilian artists currently living in Boston.
This presentation will focus on a few artists that are not well-known outside Brazil (in some cases not even within Brazil) who have created high-quality music.
We will show examples of the music and talk a bit about each artist. The objective is to make people aware of the diversity of Brazilian music and inspire them to stray off the beaten path a little bit.
Some of the artists we will cover are Vitor Ramil, Luiz Tatit, Monica Salmaso, and Elomar.
All instrumentalists, percussionists, vocalists and music enthusiasts are welcome to attend.

The clinic is scheduled for Sunday, August 31st at 12noon and the tickets are $15, RSVP ONLY.

We do have one more workshop lined up and more in the plans, stay tuned...

· Dorival Caymmi

Dorival Caymmi, one of the founders of Brazilian popular music died on Saturday at his home in Rio de Janeiro. He was 94.
Dorival was a singer and songwriter who helped lay the foundations of bossa nova, wrote Carmen Miranda's first hit and gave legendary voice to the romance of the beaches, fishing villages and bathing beauties of his native Bahia. We will miss you, mestre Dorival!!
